General Instrucitons

  • Observe wound for signs of infections (increased pain, redness, swelling, purulent drainage.)

  • Someone must accompnay you home if you receive sedation, and you should not drive a car, operate machinery, or drink alcohol. The effects of anesthesia shoud wear off in 24 hours, and then resume activities as instructed by you doctor.

  • Take you pain medication as prescribed.

  • Ice bag for 20 minutes at a time for 24-48 hours.

  • Elevate extremity as prescribed by Dr. Trinidad.

  • Report to Dr. Trinidad any severe pain not controlled by pain medication, severe nausea and vomiting, and temperatures greater than 101.

  • Sponge bath only. Dr. Trinidad will instruct youu on when you may resume showering.




DIET

  • Diet as tolerated

  • Liquids for 24 hours

  • Force fluids




ACTIVITIES

  • Activity as tolerated

  • Bedrest as prescribed by Dr. Trinidad, do not return to work or school until directed.




DRESSING

  • Keep dressing clean and dry.

  • Remove or Change dressing as directed by Dr. Trinidad. Call if the dressing is too tight for further directions.

  • Apply bandaides as directed by Dr. Trinidad.




DRAINS OR CATHETER

  • Empy drain bag as directed by Dr. Trinidad.

  • Measure output

  • Record amount, color and consistency of drainage

  • Strain all urine




FOLLOW-UP

  • Make appointment to be seen by Dr. Trinidad
